Karen Price from Nuneaton began researching her family tree and discovered she is related to the medieval king, whose remains could have been discovered underneath a Leicester car park.
She carried out her research using the online census and documents stored at the Warwick record office, and also discovered she has links to William the Conquerer.
She is upset to hear that the remains, if they do turn out to be Richard III, could be moved from Leicester to another site.
Relatives of Richard III, whose body was unearthed in Leicester, have won the right to challenge plans to rebury his remains in the city.
A facial reconstruction of King Richard III is on display today in Leicester's Guildhall on the first stop of a nationwide tour.
Members of the Richard III Society and other dignitaries held a rose-laying ceremony today at Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre.
