Derby wood fire will burn for days

Fire crews are still working to extinguish a blaze at a woodyard in Derby.

It started on Saturday night on Lows Road in Stanton by Dale in Derbyshire.

A large plume of smoke is being blown, by the wind, into Nottinghamshire and it's expected to linger for several days.

The smoke fumes aren't thought to be dangerous.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue have warned people to be aware of the smoke.

"If you are affected by the smoke, try to keep out of it by staying indoors and keeping windows and doors shut. Anyone with any health concerns should contact their GP or other local NHS services. The Health Protection Agency is aware of this incident."
