Coventry man arrested following metal theft

A 20-year-old man is being questioned over a large-scale metal theft that threatened the future production at a major supplier to the World Rally Championship.

Thieves broke into Cobra Seats in Telford on the weekend of 13-14th October, stealing around 4000 recliner mechanisms for rally seats.

The theft put the company in jeopardy of around £400,000 worth of production.

Gordon Roberts, Detective Inspector, West Mercia Police, said: "The stolen components are believed to have been sold on for just £760 - a fraction of what the parts were worth to Cobra. Unfortunately, the parts have not been recovered."
