A grenade has been discovered in a former pensioner's home in Quarry Bank, Dudley, causing houses in the area to be evacuated
The device is thought to date back from the Second World War and was discovered when relatives were clearing out a dead pensioner's property in Coppice lane.
Police say the family took the grenade next door and alerted officers.
It is not yet known if the grenade is live but houses within 100m have been evacuated as a precaution and the army's explosive team is at the scene.
Birch Avenue, Bath Road and Coppice lane are closed off and police have advised people to avoid the area.
