Full report: Primary school headteacher suspended

Governors at a village primary school in Nottinghamshire, which is under investigation by education officials, have suspended the headteacher.

The move came 24 hours after a special report by Central Tonight into serious allegations about the running of Burton Joyce Primary School.

Headteacher Margaret Gretton has been suspended while Nottinghamshire County Council carries out its inquiries. The chair of governors also resigned at last night's meeting.

An acting headteacher has been brought in from another primary school.

Today, the local MP, Vernon Coaker, said he now hoped the local authority investigation could be concluded as quickly as possible.
