Teens arrested after freight train derailed

Two teenagers have been arrested after a freight train was derailed in Mansfield last Friday.

British Transport Police received reports of the derailment around 5.20am at Thoresby Colliery.

The train remained upright after leaving the tracks and no-one was injured. Police found 'a substantial amount of ballast (a building material) placed between the tracks.

Following a police investigation a 15 and 17-year-old have been arrested on suspicion of endangering safety as well as criminal damage.

Both have been released on bail.
