Campaign to halt 800 new houses being built near Shakespearean landmark

More than a hundred people lobbied members of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust today to convince them not to sell land near Anne Hathaway's cottage to a developer.

The developer needs the land to build two housing estates. The trust and local councils have objected to the scheme but it was approved by the secretary of state. However Stratford council has now launched a legal challenge.
