Three men have been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a Leicester businessman.

Sarwar Gader (35) from Rushey Mead, Wali Khan (32) and Naveed Naveed (28) both from Highfields, were found guilty yesterday (Wednesday November 21) of the murder of Dogan Dogan.

Mr Dogan's body was found in the bedsit above a takeaway shop he owned in Evington on Sunday 8 January 2012.

The men were sentenced today at Birmingham Crown Court to life in prison, they are to serve a minimum of 28 years before they are considered for release.

Naveed Naveed and Sarwar Gader were also found guilty of robbery after Wali Khan had pleaded guilty to robbery at an earlier hearing.

Mr Dogan was found with both of his hands and feet tied, a towel and several layers of clothes had been tied over his face.

Mr Dogan died of asphyxiation, he also had broken ribs and a black eye.

Police say £1,000 of takings was missing from the bedsit.

Detective Chief Inspector Tom Davies, who led the investigation, said: “I am pleased that after a lengthy trial, these three men have been convicted for the role they played in the murder of Mr Dogan.

"Mr Dogan was a much loved husband and father. He sadly never got to meet his grandchild who was born shortly after he died.
