Police urge drivers to avoid A38 in Staffordshire

Staffordshire Police say flooding on the A38 near Burton-upon-Trent has caused severe congestion. Earlier today (27 November) the northbound carriageway was completely closed between Barton and Clay Mills.

"Severe rush-hour traffic congestion has been caused in surrounding areas, including Lichfield and Burton, as a result of the closures.

"Motorists are warned to avoid the area unless travel is absolutely necessary."
