Lincoln Prison will not become Immigration Centre
It has today been confirmed by the Ministry of Justice that Lincoln Prison will remain as a prison for the foreseeable future and will not become an immigration centre.
Following the announcement, Councillor Martin Hill, Leader of Lincolnshire County Council, said:
“We’re delighted the Government has decided to keep the prison as it is. The county council along with Karl McCartneyMP put forward a strong case, underlining the importance of the prison to the area.
This result is exactly what we’ve been calling for, and we thank the minister for making the right decision.”
