Six men found guilty of stealing seventy tonnes of lead from churches across the East Midlands have been given over 20 years in prison at Lincoln Crown Court later today.

Thieves who stole lead from church roofs were told they "Desecrated the heritage of this country" .

A gang who stripped the lead from church roofs across the East Midlands, has been jailed for a total of almost 21 years. The six men from Lithuania stole around 70 tonnes of lead, causing hundreds of thousands of pounds of damage.

The judge at Lincoln Crown Court told them they "desecrated the heritage of this country". Phil Brewster reports.
