Growing support for Andrew Mitchell MP, full report

Tonight, there's growing support for Sutton Coldfield MP Andrew Mitchell after an investigation raised questions over the police version of events in which he was accused of calling officers plebs - something he's always denied.

The MP says footage of the confrontation contradicts the police log which said several members of the public witnessed it. The footage shows one man wandering by.

An eye witness who backed up the police version of events now says he didn't see anything. It's been revealed that he is a police officer, a fact now being investigated by the Metropolitan Police.

Local police federation officials who staged protests against Mr Mitchell at the time today declined interview requests from Central Tonight. Mark Gough reports.
