Men jailed for "violent and frightening attack on young family"

Two men from Birmingham have been sent to prison for 15 years after threatening a family with a machete and imitation gun while burgling their home.

Nicholas Barton aged 29 from Balsall heath and Benjamin Kellman aged 22 from Edgbaston were jailed today following a two week trial.

It happened on the 24th June 2012 on Tyburn Road, Erdington when the two men entered the house and threatened a 42-year-old man and his family, including three young children.

The offenders then fled from the house after stealing items and then took the family car.

Officers managed to catch the two men after pursuing them on foot. Police called the attack "violent and frightening".
