West Midlands Police has become one of the first forces across the UK to introduce an online status report, which will allow victims of crime to check the status from their computer's.
The website works in the same way in which parcels are tracked; victims will be given a designated login to access information.
– Sharon Rowe, Assistant Chief Constable
"This is an exciting development which we are hoping to roll out in the not too distant future."This, however, will not replace the opportunity for a victim to have face-to-face contact conversation with a police officer."
Ms Rowe also added that the force was “actively looking” at using more video technology to encourage people to give evidence in court.
