The Transport Secretary of State, Patrick McLoughlin, is today meeting with Jon Collins, the Leader of Nottingham City Council, to ensure everything possible is being done to maximise the benefits of HS2 to Nottingham.
Patrick McLoughlin, said: "I welcome the support of the Core Cities group - including Nottingham - and share their desire to see HS2 delivered as quickly as possible. HS2 is great news for Nottingham as it will cut journey times from the East Midlands to London, Birmingham and Leeds."
An influential group of MPs says the DfT has failed to present 'a convincing strategic case' for HS2.
Campaigners say they hope to put plans for HS2 through the Midlands back to square one as they prepare to go to the High Court tomorrow.
Campaigners from HS2 Action Alliance are heading to London tomorrow to take on the Government at the Court of Appeal.
