Mother accused of murdering son 'had parenting classes'

A jury in the trial of a mother accused of murdering her two-year-old son in Birmingham has heard that she had parenting classes.

The court heard that Rebecca Shuttleworth was having the lessons when her son, Keanu, was first born. He was found dead at home in Warn End, Birmingham, in January 2011.

Rebecca Shuttleworth's father today gave evidence against her in court, telling the jury that she had enjoyed the lessons in how to feed and wash her son.

Shuttleworth and her boyfriend - Luke Southerton - deny the charges of murder, causing or allowing the death of a child and child cruelty.

The trial continues.
