Police car rammed by JCB

A police car was rammed as thieves tried to steal a JCB from a college in Birmingham last night.

A gang broke into the compound of the National Construction College in Kings Norton and used the JCB digger to force open the gates.

The thieves were spotted by a passing patrol car less than a mile away.

The gang rammed the patrol car, damaging both vehicles, before jumping into a Land Rover Defender that had been running in convoy.

Both police officers were uninjured.

Thankfully the officers were not hurt, but the combination of the heavy plant vehicle and the weather conditions could well have resulted in a far more serious collision.
