Yesterday it was announced. Today, for hundreds of firms across the Midlands the work on planning for the HS2 rail line has got fully underway.
The second phase of the route from London will take the line from Birmingham to Manchester, and via the East Midlands to Leeds. Some say it's the wrong route, and the line is not needed.
But it could mean contracts totalling hundreds of millions of pounds for companies based in the region. John Willats reports.
