It cost them nearly a day of their holiday, but it could now cost the airline industry a lot more.
Jeff Halsall's return flight was delayed by nearly 22 hours. He and his wife from Stoke-on-Trent took operator Thomas Cook to court - and have since achieved a landmark ruling that opens up compensation claims for other unhappy holiday-makers.
In his only television interview, Mr Halsall has been speaking to ITV News Central's Chris Halpin.
