Appeals after teenager punched and had iPhone stolen on bus

Police have released CCTV images from a bus after a girl was punched and her iPhone stolen

CCTV images of three girls suspected of punching a teenage bus passenger and stealing her iPhone on a Birmingham city centre service have been released by police.

The 17-year-old girl was punched in the head before her phone was prised from her hand as she travelled on the number 22 bus along Broad Street.

Police are appealing for anyone who recognises the girls in the CCTV images to contact them

The three offenders then ran off of the bus and down Sheepcote Street.

The victim suffered bruising to her back and head after the robbery.

Officers have described the attack as 'frightening'

Investigating Detective Alan Hands from Birmingham west and Central Police said they are appealing to anyone who may recognise the girls:

"This was a frightening attack for the victim as the three girls ganged up on her.

"She was fortunate to not be more seriously injured but she was left shaken up by what happened.

"We are appealing to anyone who recognises the girls in the images to come forward and contact us. If you have any information about those responsible, please call us as soon as possible."
