Armed robbery at Coventry pub

Masked robbers have burst into a Coventry pub and threatened staff and customers with knives and hammers.

This happened on Wednesday night at the Nursery Tavern in Lord Street.

Drinkers were ordered to stay in the bar area as the five men entered.

The landlord was punched in the face and forced to open the safe at knifepoint.

“The offenders made off with a considerable amount of cash and left the pub customers extremely shaken by their ordeal. The landlord suffered cuts and bruises but fortunately was not seriously injured.

“We are appealing for any witnesses who we have not already spoken with to come forward. In particular we would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious outside the pub at the time of the robbery."
