Stafford report delay

The administrators of Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust have been granted more time to prepare a report into how the trust should be run. The trust runs Stafford Hospital, where hundreds of patients died needlessly between 2005 and 2009.

Staffordshire Police: Events at Stafford Hospital have been a 'tragedy' for local communities

Staffordshire Police have released a statement in light of the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt's comments in the Daily Telegraph today.

It reads:

The events at Stafford Hospital have been a tragedy for the many families affected and our local communities.

"Like them, we are currently studying the report’s full contents.

Whilst the five major inquiries – including two independent public inquiries - into the hospital highlighted many instances of unacceptable standards of patient care, at that time there was no evidence that the circumstances of any of the tragic deaths constituted a criminal offence under the law.
