Investigation into diabetic patient at Stafford Hospital not given insulin

The Health and Safety Executive has confirmed that it's considering resuming an investigation into the death of a patient at Stafford Hospital almost six years ago.

Gillian Astbury was diabetic but wasn't given insulin while she was in hospital.

The Health and Safety Executive started an investigation at the time put it on hold to allow the Stafford Hospital public inquiry to take place.

Stafford report delay

The administrators of Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust have been granted more time to prepare a report into how the trust should be run. The trust runs Stafford Hospital, where hundreds of patients died needlessly between 2005 and 2009.
