Man with well-known name banned from city centre shops

A man, with a well-known name, has been banned from all city centre shops in Nottingham after being convicted of numerous shoplifting offences.

Winston Churchill who is 48 and from Hyson Green in the city, has a history of shoplifting. He received eight sperate convictions in 2012.

Churchill has stolen high-value shirts and a ladies coat among other items.

He was convicted of three counts of theft and was sentenced to a 33-week prison sentence at Nottingham Magistrates' Court.

Along with the custodial sentence, Churchill was also handed a two-year Criminal Anti-Social Behaviour Order, which bans him from entering any shop or retail outlet within Nottingham city centre until June 30, 2015.
