Leicester bids for City of Culture 2017

Leicester is to compete against cities including Plymouth and Aberdeen in a bid to be declared the UK City of Culture 2017.

Key figures from the arts, business and media now have two months to prepare the bid.

Leicester 'City of Culture' bid

Leicester is one of four cities to have been shortlisted for the UK City of Culture 2017. The city will now have to submit a final bid and wait until November to find out if it will be named as only the second ever UK City of Culture.
