Resignation of two members of Mid Staffs NHS Trust Board

The Deputy Chief Executive of the Mid Staffs NHS Trust has released this statement in response to the news that two members of the Trust board have resigned. It follows yesterday's announcement that health regulators are considering putting the Trust into administration.

Our focus remains on delivering care to our patients. We want to reassure our patients and all the local community that we will continue to put our patients first throughout this challenging period. We regret that the announcement by Monitor has resulted in the resignation of two of our Non-Executive Directors, Eleanor Chumley-Roberts and Dr Lynne Hulme. We would like to thank them for the service they have given to the Trust.

Stafford report delay

The administrators of Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust have been granted more time to prepare a report into how the trust should be run. The trust runs Stafford Hospital, where hundreds of patients died needlessly between 2005 and 2009.
