Chief fire investigator resumes evidence

Derbyshire Fire Investigator Matt Lee resumes giving evidence at the trial of Mick and Mairead Philpott and Paul Mosley today.

When asked what sort of noise he would expect to hear during the course of the fire at Victory road, he replied "I would expect it to sound like a well stoked chimney fire, a sound that was akin to a raging bonfire."

Matt Lee also said that he would expect to hear a 'whooshing' sound.

He said this would be due to an ignition of petrol vapour and the sound would be due to a build up of these vapours.

A minute's silence will take place ahead of Derby County's match with Ipswich in memory of the Philpott children who died in a house fire on Victory Road in the city last year.
