Changes announced to Stafford Hospital's A&E services
Changes were announced today into how Stafford Hospital will be made more sustainable.
Dr David Bennett, the Chief Executive of Monitor – the independent regulator of NHS foundations trusts – told ITV News Central that some accident and emergency services will be moved to neighbouring facilities in Stoke and Wolverhampton.
Other recommendations include making both Stafford and Cannock hospitals smaller. Officials say smaller hospitals with reduced treatment services could free up resources to specialise in more daily treatments such as diagnoistics, outpatients and antenatal care.
