Elderly woman beats off thief with crutches

An elderly woman has given a thief more than he bargained for when she beat him off with her crutches as he stole her pension.

The thief knocked on the 81-year-old's door at around 1:30pm on Friday 22nd February.

Thinking it was her next-door neighbour she opened to door only to be pushed aside as the man barged through to rummage through her belongings in the living room.

£110 cash was stolen after he had been hit over the head by the elderly woman with her crutches.

"The victim was extremely brave in trying to fight off the offender, but she’s understandably been left terrified by the whole ordeal. She blames herself for the robbery and now struggles to sleep because of what happened."

The offender is described as standing 6ft tall, clean-shaven, in his early 20s and of average build, with a very pale complexion and short shiny wavy black hair.
