A Nottinghamshire based company has been ordered to pay out more than £15,000 after supplying illegal pesticides.
Vital Reactions Limited, which was operating from Broxtowe Park Business Centre in Strelley, and its two directors were fined £9,000 and ordered to pay Leicestershire County Council’s Trading Standards Service costs of more than £6,000.
Officers brought the case to court after being alerted to concerns over Plant Vitality Plus, a pesticide intended for eradicating red spider mites.
The small metal flasks featured cartoon style labels, making them appealing to children, but there were inadequate instructions or warnings for safe use.
There was also no information about the contents or the manufacturer, potentially delaying emergency treatment if anyone ingested it.
