The six-year-old girl who died after falling into a Kidderminster canal was in cardiac arrest when she was recovered from the water.
West Midlands Ambulance Service say resuscitation was administered immediately before she was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital, she died a short while later.
It happened near Springfield Park around 6.20pm on Tuesday as three children fell into the water.
Two other children managed to escape and were treated for hypothermia before being taken to Worcester Hospital, they are expected to make a full recovery.
