Car production levels fell back slightly last month, official figures showed today.
A total of 137,458 cars were made in the UK in February 2013 – a 0.7 per cent fall on the same month last year, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said.
The news follows a positive few years for Midlands-based automotive manufacturers. In February 2012, production total was up 26 per cent on February 2011.
However, it's not all bad. Jaguar Land Rover confirmed earlier this month that its new engine factory is going to double in size creating 1,400 jobs.
The new plant is being built outside Wolverhampton near the M6.
In 2012, 350,000 JLR vehicles were sold around the world.
