The Chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council, Carol Pepper, has congratulated Mansfield Town Football Club on its triumphant return to the Football League.
The club was crowned champions of the Blue Square Bet Football Conference on Saturday evening after securing a 1-0 victory over Wrexham.
Five years after being relegated, the club now takes its place alongside Nottinghamshire's two other league clubs – Nottingham Forest and Notts County.
I wish Mansfield Town huge congratulations on winning the Conference championship and securing a deserved return to the Football League. They have done Nottinghamshire proud.
The Stags success adds another achievement to an incredible 12 months for Nottinghamshire sport: Carl Froch winning the World Super-Middleweight title, a big medal haul for Team Notts at London 2012 and the Nottingham Panthers winning an amazing treble have been just some of the highlights.
