James Brodie: Murder charge against Dean Betton dropped

A man accused of killing a suspected robber has had the case against him dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service at a hearing at Nottingham Crown Court.

Dean Betton, 32, had been charged with the murder of James Brodie who disappeared after jeweller Marian Bates was shot dead by raiders at her Nottingham store in 2003.

Police believe Brodie was murdered after taking part in the raid. His body has not been found.
