Tariq Jahan, whose son was killed during riots in Birmingham two years ago, is taking part in an aid mission to help refugees of Syria's civil war.
He was praised for his role in calming tensions after his son Haroon died while trying to protect a petrol station from looters.
The convoy will reach the Turkish border tonight and plans to cross into Syria tomorrow.
