School kids back Leicester's bid

Children have worked on a number of projects which represent the city and its culture

Primary school children in Leicester are backing the city's bid to become the next UK City of Culture by getting creative in the classroom.

Pupils at Rothley Church of England Primary School have created a pieces of art that reflect Leicester's culture and heritage.

City Mayor Peter Soulsby will visit the school later to meet the children and look at their artwork.

Leicester’s initial bid was submitted to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport on 30 April. The city will find out in June, if it has been shortlisted.
