25 hour rugby match in Leicester breaks world record

A world record has been broken in Leicester for the longest game of rugby.

The 25 hour game, which was held at the Leicester Tigers stadium, raised around £50,000 to help the armed forces charity Scotty's Little Soldiers.

The players started yesterday at 11am and continued through the night.

The charity, which helps the children of servicemen and women who have been killed in action, was established by mother-of-two Nikki Scott, whose husband Corporal Lee Scott was killed in Afghanistan.
