UK Government lawyers have gone to Portugal to meet their counterparts to talk about new leads in the case of missing Madeleine McCann, it has been announced.

London's chief crown prosecutor Alison Saunders and her deputy Jenny Hopkins travelled to Portugal with Scotland Yard detectives, as part of the police force's review of the case.

Madeleine, who was then almost four, went missing from her family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal's Algarve on May 3 2007, as her parents Kate and Gerry had dinner at a nearby tapas restaurant with friends.
