Fans boycott Coventry City

Thousand of fans are expected to boycott Coventry City's first 'home' fixture to be played out of the city for 130 years. The club will play fixtures at Northampton's Sixfields stadium after leaving the Ricoh because of a row over rent arrears.

Northampton Town: 'We will not be bullied or threatened'

A statement has been released by Northampton Town Football Club after it emerged that the Ricoh Arena are to sue the club for effectively 'stealing' its customer.

Northampton Town Football Club confirms that Arena Coventry Limited (ACL) has threatened the club with legal action in respect of Coventry City FC playing at Sixfields Stadium. The club was approached by Coventry City to play at Sixfields, so that Coventry City could fulfil its fixtures. The Football League has endorsed this arrangement.

The threatened action by ACL is without any legal merit and is not conducive to the greater good of the game. Northampton Town Football Club will not be bullied or threatened.

It follows Coventry City agreeing a deal to play at Northampton's Sixfields Stadium for at least the next three years.
