Increased car manufacturing is good news for Midlands

Car manufacturing has grown during the first half of the year.

It grew by 1.1% to 764,390 vehicles.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders say that figures show that while 4 out of 5 cars built in the UK are exported, an increase in output for the home market has boosted 2013 figures.

They say that home market has risen by almost 25%.

Cars that are still made in the Midlands include

  • Jaguar and Landrover in Birmingham
  • Toyota in Derbyshire
  • Aston Martin in Warwickshire
  • Morgan in Worcestershire
  • MG assembled in Longbridge
