Birmingham City Council is setting up special committees to work with HS2 to ensure the West Midlands secures jobs to build the proposed line.
The HS2 board is meeting outside London for the first time.
It's chosen Birmingham because the city will be at the heart of HS2Phase 1 from London and Phase 2 to the north west and the east.
