Weather warnings upgraded for parts of the region

Amber Weather warning issued on top of Yellow Met Office warning for Tuesday evening

Today's thundery showers are now clearing east, but temperatures are rising and further thunderstorms are likely to break out across the region later this afternoon and through the evening.

Some places will escape, but where they do occur there is the potential for 40-60 mm of rain to fall in less than 3 hours

An Amber 'Be Prepared' Met Office warning has now been issued (alongside the already existing Yellow warning that runs through all parts of the midlands into tonight and continues into eastern areas until tomorrow morning).

The Amber warning covers the northern tip of the region - Derbyshire, valid 4.45pm until 11pm
