A man has been jailed to five and a half years after he bit off part of a man's ear following a disagreement.

Aizat Khan, of Yew Tree Road, Aston, was sentenced after being found guilty to wounding with intent.

The assault happened in September last year in Small Heath after a disagreement about foreign politics.

The victim, who does not wish to be identified, became involved in an argument with Khan. 33-year-old Khan punched the victim, who then punched him back, before other people intervened.

The victim then approached Khan again to tackle him about why he had sworn about his family. While the victim was held by another person, Khan went behind him and bit his earlobe off, before escaping in a nearby vehicle.

The victim underwent surgery to have his earlobe re-attached.
