Child services boss quits after Pelka report criticism

The former boss of children's services at Coventry City Council has quit his new job, after being severely criticised in a report into the death of Daniel Pelka.

Colin Green, who retired from his post at the end of last month, was due to take up a new role at Tower Hamlets Safeguarding Children Board in London.

A review published earlier this week stated that a number of opportunities to intervene were missed by school staff, social workers and police officers.

"The new chair of Tower Hamlets Local Safeguarding Children Board, Colin Green, has decided to withdraw from the post with immediate effect.”
