Calls for all trustees to step down at Al-Madinah

Representatives from the Muslim and Pakistani communities in Derby have called for all trustees of the Al-Madinah free school to stand down.

Speaking today, they said the position of trustees has become "untenable".

It follows the sudden resignation of the chairman of governors Shazia Parveen this morning.

In a statement read out by another person, she said her departure was "in the best interests" of pupils.

Public meeting over Al-Madinah

Concerned parents have attended a public meeting to discuss problems at the Al-Madinah free school in Derby. It comes after the top governor stood down amid a storm of criticism, including an Ofsted report calling the school 'dysfunctional'.
