The managing director of nightclub chain Gatecrasher has spoken out against the growing problem of knife crime.
Simon Raine spoke out after three men were stabbed in a brawl outside the Nottingham branch in the early hours of today, labelling it a "huge national issue".
He said the chain had now introduced "knife arches" to try to catch anyone smuggling a weapon through the doors.
We need to deal with this as a community to stop horrific crimes like this happening on our doorsteps.
Working closely with the police, we have implemented new policies and procedures to try and eliminate knife crime.
Knife arches are now in full operation and Gatecrasher has installed state-of-the-art CCTV cameras.
The club also extensive trains its staff extensively on conflict management, shares information with other licensed premises and does detailed risk assessments of each night it operates.
