A £2.7million roadworks scheme in Leicester will be suspended over Christmas, council chiefs have revealed.
The county council is carrying out work on the roundabout at Asda and Fosse Park in a bid to ease congestion in the city.
But from next Friday until January 6, daytime works will be halted to ease traffic from shoppers headed to the retail park.
It comes after a report named Leicester in its top 10 worst traffic hotspots, sparking calls from business leaders for roadworks to cease in the run-up to Christmas.
