A flight loaded with more than 95 tonnes of UK aid is getting ready to leave East Midlands Airport for the Philippines this evening, Justine Greening, the International Development Secretary, has praised the 'huge generosity' of the British people.
Ministers have chartered a flight to take supplies including fork lift trucks, fuel tanks and a Land Rover defender to the country, where 3,600 people have died and more than 500,000 have been left homeless after Typhoon Haiyan.
