Online shoppers spent more money this year on Cyber Monday, than the same day in 2012.
Cyber Monday, or Mega Monday, is the day predicted as the busiest day for online shopping each year.
Monday 2nd December saw online sales up by 31.6% compared to last year’s Cyber Monday, with the average online order value amounting to £82.24. That is an increase of 1.4% compared to 2012.
The figures, analysed by IBM, also show shopping on mobile devices has grown by 94.3% year over year, with the majority of these using tablet computers.
Argos, which has a large distribution centre near Burton-on-Trent, dispatched around 300,000 different items on Monday alone.
