The Royal Naval Reserves are trying to recruit nearly 220 new recruits in the West Midlands over the next three years.
They are holding an open day today at HMS Forward in Birmingham. Those serving in the Royal Naval Reserves combine their work with the Navy with their day job.
Lt Robert Mackie has been a reserve for 21 years and has also spent 5 years in India in his civilian job with Jaguar Land Rover. During his time with the navy he says he has travelled the world from helping to hand over Hong Kong to the Chinese to watching a test match in the West Indies.
